Week 36

Baby’s Length: 13.5 to 20.5 in.

Baby’s Weight: 6 lbs.

Baby’s Size: Tennis Racket

At my 35 week checkup with my midwife, she informed me that I am going to go into labor within the next two weeks. She’s also said that the baby is right on track and growing great. She was a little small 2 weeks ago, but grew dramatically in the past week or so. I have to go see my midwife once a week until I give birth now. Hopefully that will be soon! I’m still hoping for July 7th… (7/7/2007)

My baby shower was on Saturday and it went fantastic! I got almost everything off of my baby registries and then some. And thankfully, most of it I like too!

Dan took a hundred pictures so I’ll show you a few…

There were almost 40 people at my baby shower. There were so many people there, that I hadn’t seen in years. It was almost like a reunion! I was so happy that so many people were able to come.

My mom went all out with the decorations. Of course it was a “Winnie The Pooh” themed shower… she also accented with sunflowers. To the right is a picture of the beautiful diaper cake she made.

There was so much FOOD! Jalapeño pinwheels, fruit & pineapple dip tray, cheese, olives, grapes, pickles, & cracker platter, cucumber tea sandwiches, spinach dip with bread, hamburger dip with tortilla chips, veggie platters, and so much more… And you wouldn’t believe all the deserts! I made sunflower cupcakes, and mom made a Classic Pooh cake. We also had apple spice cake, strawberry shortcake, brownies, chocolate cookies, chocolate fondue and fresh strawberries, and more.

My grandmother bought me a beautiful dress and matching shoes to wear for the occasion. Dan didn’t get any good pictures of me though…

I also got a ton of clothes. I actually liked most of them. Some were really ugly though! Luckily, most people included a receipt in their card, so that makes me life a little easier.

I have a bunch of Thank You cards to fill out tomorrow, plus I have a chiropractic appointment today.

I thought that having my mom do the baby shower would be a disaster, but she actually did an amazing job and had no problem letting me have things my way. I was afraid she was just going to totally take over the whole operation and not let me have a say, but she’s actually a lot less controlling then she used to be… Maybe I’m just seeing things from a different perspective now…

So I had a fantastic time and everything was beautiful. I am so thankful for everything and I’m really relieved that I have everything I need now. All I have left to do is sit back and wait for my water to break…

That’s the hardest part!

Dan is in LA for the next 3 days and he told me I have to sit in bed till he gets back. He’s so nervous that I am going to go into labor while he is away. It would take him at least 5 hours to get back, if not more. So he’s freaking out a little bit… Poor guy. I told him I had no control over it, but that I would “try my hardest” not go into labor while he’s gone. After he comes back from this trip, he doesn’t have to fly again until August. Thank God!

I still have to put all these baby shower gifts away somewhere… I ought to go do that.
